Need Help "Connect to Azure Active Directory Activity Logs"

I am trying to make some modifications to the report that comes with the "Azure Active Directory Activity Logs" Content Pack, but I appear to be unable to edit it (“You can’t edit a shared report” is what is shown when I hover over edit report)

I then tried to create a new dashboard/report but the dataset isn’t listed for me to select (it seems the content pack creates some sort of hidden/shared set of dataset/dashboard/report and I’m unable to modify anything)

So then I tried to use power bi desktop (November edition) to try to author the report and install the content pack. Alas, it appears to be unavailable to use in powerbi desktop.

Help!

hi all,

i've updated the power bi desktop version to the November one (2.64). With this update, whenever I try -even on a new file- to use the google analytics connector, the following error message is shown:

Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute

has never occured to you? any advice on how to solve it? i'd say it's a power bi issue related to this version.

thanks in advance!

I have a Power BI Query which connects to a local SQL Server Database.  It works fine in Power Query Editor, however when I press "Close & Apply" it returns an error.  Any suggestions?

Note:  There is only 1 step (the SQL Query), and the Query is valid (tested in SSMS and Power Query Editor via Refresh Preview)

No data from connected Microsoft Apps

I am trying to connect Apps such as "Azure Active Directory Activity Logs" and "Microsoft 365 Usage Analytics" but I am having trouble to get it to work.

I can sign in to each service using my Global Admin Account but once the App is connected, no data is shown.

I have followed this article and its all set: Enable Microsoft 365 usage analytics.

We are using a Trial of Microsoft 365 E5.

Does App connections to Microsoft trial licenses not work?

Incremental load of daily excel file to exisiting history table in Power BI

Hi All,

I am having a scenario like this.

1. I have loaded the historical data from an excel file folder.

2. I have in another folder only previous days data in excel in the same format as the history data. There will be only one file in this.

3. I want to append the file in 2 to the file in 1.

The challenge I am facing is next day when a new daily excel file is loaded in the new data folder, it is only appending the new data. The data of yesterday is lost.

How to over come this.?

Is there a way where by I can store back the updated data into the historical data folder, which i reload on a daily basis and then append the new data to it.

Does the incremental load feature introduced in power Bi can help achieve this. If so how to do this ?

Cheers

Salesforce API version with Power BI Salesforce integration

Hi,

Does anyone know which Salesforce API version is used with Power BI Salesforce integration?

Looks like it is 29.0 or less because some objects and columns are not available when getting SF data and but can anyone confirm this?

I came to this conclusion because if I use other tools to query SF data and use API version 29.0 or less there, same objects and columns are not available but if I use version 30.0 the objects and columns which I would need are available.

And a question to MS Power BI teams, is there any plan to update Salesforce API to newer version?

Sorting single column into categories using hierarchy

I am currently working with data where a column is made of of serval layers of sub-catagories as seen in the link below.

https://imgur.com/YPXwO6e

I made an attempt to seperate them out into different columns for each level, but since the final level for some catagories are different to other, it started to repeat the final level, as seen here;
https://imgur.com/OPZSMzO

I was hoping there would be an easier way, or if there was some function built into Power BI where I pass the inital data and give it a hierarchy list and you could organise it there that, I have the hierarchy here;
https://imgur.com/YjUCWQP

I was hoping to get something like where, you select a catagory and it would show the data split into the catagories one level down.

Really appericated any help or ideas, thanks.

Extract PDF Form Data FDF

I have a large set of PDF forms with the data stored within each form in defined fields.

When using the new pdf tool it does not allow the defined fields to be extracted and simply shows the printed labels with out any of hte actual responded data ( I think because it is not built to extract data from forms but basically OCR a flat pdf)

Has anyone come across a way to extract the fields as columns wiht the record data as the rows of a table for this type of PDF?

Hello,

I was wondering if an azure sql database is mandatory for streaming data to the power bi service.
In my case where we operate an on-premises sql database, i would like to know if a direct query connection is possible. Appreciate your assistance.

Hello! when trying to update data via the web version, it writes an error: "The following system error occurred: Type mismatch. Unable to convert a value to the data type requested for table 'СправичникМесяца490' column 'ОтчетныйПериод'. The data provider was unable to convert the value 'ЯНВАРЬ 2014' from the source data type 'VT_BSTR' to the expected data type 'VT_DATE'. Please check the column data types in the data model and data source and ensure that the data types are compatible. The database operation was cancelled because of an earlier failure. Table: СправичникМесяца490"

Through the desktop version everything is ok. What could be the problem?

Share Dashboard with Dynamics 365 Online Users

$

Hi

I am attempting to Share a Dashboard with other Dynamics 365 Users.

I am a Power BI Pro User, but the other Users are not.

At the moment all they see is a blank, grey dashboard - no errors and no content.

Is there something that possibly needs to be updated in terms of Azure or Services to allow Non Pro Users to see the Dashboards embedded in Dynamics?  CDS Update?

This is massively frustrating as all the information I've seen seems to point to being able to do this, but I can't quite get from CRM to Power BI for other Users.  I can see the Dashboard myself and I've shared it with the other Users and created a Shared Workspace and an App Workspace and and and... but still to no avail.

Please help - has anyone managed to complete this?  Surely this is the way that Power BI is supposed to work? e.g. Pro Users create and share their content and others consume it.  I'd be very disappointed if all Users have to be Pro Users - which would make a nonsense of the licencing.

thanks in advance
