All of my PowerBI datasets stopped updating since August 19th. Before this date I had no problems with my On-premise Data Gateway (personal mode). On PowerBI Desktop i can still update the PowerBI datasets without any trouble.
Sadly the error message did not tell me much: "There was an error in the data gateway"
I have pinpointed the problem to the follow: my 'Web' data sources do not update:
- If I remove the Web datasources from the PowerBI solution, the update starts functioning again
- If I create a new PowerBI solution with only Excel sources: data sources update fine, once I add a Web data source I cannot update from the portal.
My solutions are a mix of Excel files and web sources, I want it to be updated automatically, preferably in the PowerBI Portal.
Can someone help me how to fix this problem?

As said: updating in PowerBI Desktop still works perfect, and if I have a PowerBI dataset with only excel sources the personal data gateway is functioning perfect. The on-premise service is up and running and visible in the PowerBI Portal.
I've tried te following:
- Used the personal gateway on three different computers
- Used the personal gateway on two seperate internet connections
- Tried installing the general gateway (but could not find how to connect the data sources of the previous solutions to this)
- Tried new PowerBI solutions: all functioned until a web data source was added
- Stripped down non functioning PowerBI solututions: all start functioning once I deleted the web data sources.
