This problem has been driving me crazy, so I'm hoping the community might be able to help...
SCENARIO:
- I have a Sharepoint Folder source, from which I can successfully load XLSX and CSV files. Power BI stores my credentials (an Office 365 organizational account, which is an owner of the Sharepoint site containing the folder).
- I need to get data from an HTML file which contains lots of tables.
- Using Power BI Desktop, I can see the HTML file in the Sharepoint Folder. However, when I try to load the file, I receive the error "The credentials provided are invalid".
- To be clear, this doesn't happen when trying to load other file types - only HTML files.
WHAT I'VE TRIED:
- Loading the same HTML file from my local computer works fine. This suggests that the problem has something to do with the way Sharepoint Online presents HTML files to Power BI.
- Re-entering my Office 365 / Sharepoint credentials (did not help).
- Re-building the query (did not help).
The only alternative I can see is to convert the HTML file into an Excel spreadsheet, however this would cause problems for data processing as I would need to group the data back into its original tables. The benefit of importing the HTML file is that I can identify the tables before expanding them.
