Adobe Analytics Only 7 Days of Data

$

Hello,

I am trying to develop a set of reports for some of our Ops folks from our Adobe Analytics account.  I have successfully connected the two platforms, however they need a substantial amount of data more than what Power Bi is showing.  I can only get the last 7 days.  Is it possible to get access to the last two years worth of data?

Is there some dynamic date range I can push the data with?

Thanks in advance.

Data Lake Store data refresh rate

Hi,

the refresh rate of a Data Lake Store dataset published in the PBI Service is automatic and happens once an hour like the other cloud services like Azure SQL, OneDrive etc. or should be scheduled and in this case is 8 times a day (PBI Pro) or 24 times a day (PBI Premium/Embedded)?

Thank you in advance for sharing.

OData refresh called multiple times

Hi,

I have a Power BI Destop application that accesses 1 Data Source which is an OData feed (from SAP). The OData feed is quite big (~650 MB) and when calling it from a web browser or SAP it takes roughly 7 minutes to fetch the data. When refreshing the data in Power BI Desktop it takes much longer (roughly 50 minutes). After clicking on Refresh in the popup it shows "Evaluating" and "Loading 4 KB..." for a very long time. I have traced the access also on the backend of the OData application in SAP and I can see that the OData feed is called multiple times with the same returned size of ~650 MB and always using the same amount of time. These multiple calls add up to the 50 minutes.

Why does Power BI desktop call the OData feed multiple times? Is there a way to reduce the number of calls e.g. to only 1 call so that a refresh takes only 7 minutes?

Thanks already for the help!

Andreas

Hi,

I need to connect to sql database. Our customer provided user name, password, dbname, port and host. I try to write my server name as hostSmiley Tongueort. I get an error. Do I need to configure something before connection? What would be the tutorial how to reach that data? Thank You in advance.

Power BI services - multiple reports as a data source

We've developed a model of Self-Service principles where different organisations uses Query Editor to anonymize the data and then publish .pbix files to the Power BI services and publishing those reports on the web for anyone to interact with.

Due to the success of this approach we now need to gather that data and present it across organisations.

Is this possible within the Power BI framework in one way or the other?

(The Power BI services connector doesn't work as it can only connect to one report)

Hi,

my client want to consult with me his report in Power BI. For this case he created new user in his AzureAD and gave me credentials.

I am able to connect to PowerBI service and explore published reports. Reports are connected in Live Connection mode into Azure Analysis Services.

The problem starts when I download pbix file from serivce and try to open file with PowerBI desktop app,  I got this error :

error.pngI can connect to model with Excel and see data, this user is in roles for RLS security.

My powerbi desktop app is from January 2018 version.

Any idea ?

Report values not updating from changes in Insightly

We have linked Insightly to Power BI and created some report visualisations of COMPLETED TASKS.

The Insightly data is not being updated in our report when refreshed (since we first created the report):

  1. Numerical data not being updated.
  2. Some dropdown filter options in the drop downs of some elements are not up-to-date. Eg TASK CATEGORIES will not display newer or edited category names made in Insightly. This is affecting the legend (when TASK CATEGORIES are used).

To refresh I am:

  • Manually refresh the Insightly data (Left Menu > Datasets (Insightly) > ... > REFRESH NOW)
  • Also, whilst in the report (Edit Report) > Refresh (in the top menu).

I am doing this in My Workspaces > REPORTS > Task (the name of the report).

I am using the free web version of Power BI on a MacBook in Chrome (Version 63.0.3239.132 (Official Build) (64-bit))

Import Statuses

When I import a PBIX file, I can get the import status using the route:

https://api.powerbi.com/v1.0/myorg/groups/[org-id]/imports/[import-id]

and it returns something similar to:

{
"id": "[import-id]",
"importState": "Succeeded",
"createdDateTime": "2018-01-24T19:14:31.527Z",
"updatedDateTime": "2018-01-24T19:14:31.527Z",
"name": "[name]",
"connectionType": "import",
"source": "Upload",
"datasets": [],
"reports":[]
}

I would like to know what are the possible values are for "importState", is there a reference list somewhere?

Dynamics 365 OData error with Power BI desktop

Hi, I am trying to connect Power BI desktop to Dynamics 365 Online.

After putting in the correct credentials, it starts to load the metadata then fails with this message:

"OData: The feed's metadata document appears to be invalid"

I am using the OData endpoint URL that I copied from the Instance Web API section in D365 Settings eg:  https://crmxxxxx.api.crm.dynamics.com/api/data/v9.0/.

This is a clean install of Dynamics 365 so there is no customisation of the schema.

I can return the metadata in a browser and nothing obvious stands out.

I have successfully connected to a version 8 instance of Dynamics 365 so I know that I have the right steps.

Is there a known issue with Power BI desktop (latest version) and the July 2017 release of Dynamics 365?

Refreshing data from REST API

$

Hi,

I've been using PowerBI Desktop to call on reports from Kronos Workforce Ready. They have a pretty straight-forward REST API (https://secure.workforceready.eu/ta/docs/rest/) and using the blank query I've been able to POST for a bearer token which is then used for GET-ing the reports.

So I can fetch the data that I need and reports to help our business and publish this to the service.

The issue I'm running into is when I want to refresh my dataset: the /login is entirely anonymous with credentials in the body of the POST and PBI Service refuses to connect to the endpoint (well, it connects but it uses GET instead of POST). I can refresh just fine in Desktop but Data Gateway keeps telling me:

Underlying error message:

Web.Contents failed to get contents from 'https://secure.workforceready.eu/ta/rest/v1/login' (405): Method Not Allowed

 I'm assuming this is because the Web doesn't allow for a body to do a POST? All the while permitting it in the blank query by using Content=Text.ToBinary() in the Web.Content().

Is there a way to automate this refresh of API data in any way other than scripting it outside of PBI?

How to display name of Created By from Sharepoint Online?

Hello,

So I'm trying to bring author information from a list that is in Sharepoint Online. However when I check, all I see are UserIds and the Author field has Record link which takes me to a small table containing info on that particular user who submitted an item in the list.

Isn't there a way to just get the author as a text value from that field and display it in the graphs?

Renaming Power BI Gateway

When I installed the gateway I mis-spelt the name. I fixed the name in the Service, but I can't find a way to fix it on the gateway machine itself.

Anyone know where I need to look?

Converting ACL Error

Hi guys, I've a question about the integration of ACL with Power BI, I'm new here, so I don't understand  so much about the topic.

I do the connnection with ODBC and I find correctly the table I want, but, ever show me this error:

DataSource.Error: ODBC: ERROR [HY000] [ACL][AclDSI] (7) Error converting Acl Connector string data ('Boa tarde!) to SQL type LONGVARCHAR.
Details:
DataSourceKind=Odbc
DataSourcePath=dsn=ACL ODBC 64
OdbcErrors=Table

If I delete this column where has this string, show the error on another colum, and ever is about the convertion in LONGVARCHAR.

If you need something else about more information, I'll respond as soon as possible.

Thanks guys.

Connecting with connection string for Azure Storage Table

$

Hi!

I'm trying to connect an Azure Storage Table to PowerBI. From my Azure admin, I received a connection string with the following format:

https://<Account Name>.table.core.windows.net/?sv=<Some Date>&ss=t&srt=o&sp=rl&se=<Some DateTime>&st=<Another DateTime>&sip=<External IP address>&spr=https&sig=<Signature>

And a client needs to use this to connect with Power BI. For myself, I have a regular Account and Account Key, but the client is not allowed to use that one.

Is there any way to use this string in Power BI?

I've tried to enter the whole string in "= AzureStorage.Tables("https://<Account Name>.table.core.windows.net/?sv=<Some Date>&ss=t&srt=o&sp=rl&se=<Some DateTime>&st=<Another DateTime>&sip=<External IP address>&spr=https&sig=<Signature>")" , with all actual values obviously, but then I get the following error:

"DataFormat.Error: The Account URL shouldn't have query parameters" and googling the error didn't help me.. Does anyone here have a solution?

Thanks!

JSON web services from Eurostat

Eurostat provides you with a method to connect to their public data via JSON-STAT

Here is the "How-To" from Eurostat

Now I've created my URL and what I did was basically the same way as always.

Get Data - From Web - Paste the URL and OK

The result I get is thiseurostatResult.PNG

All the values are stored in the value Records and the dimensions are stored in another Record. I need to create a table where the values are aligned with the dimensions (Time and Location)

This is the desired outputeurostatResultOutput.PNG

After going back and forth in trying to get a table from this URL, I simply can't.

I suspect that I need to tweak something in Advanced Editor but my lack of M-formula knowledge is not helping.

Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated !

QBO

I get the following after connecting Power BI into QBO.

The query referenced a relationship between 'GeneralLedger'[Account] and 'Accounts'[AccountKey], which depends on a column that is not in a valid state

I have tried attaching the QBO Content Pack multiple times over the last month.  Always get the same error as above for most of the tiles.  If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Multi user/user specific reporting environment best practices

Hello,

This will be integrated into Salesforce as an embedded report, proof of concept is functional. Just thinking on next steps.

I've created a master reporting template for our sales team. However each member needs to only see data relevant to their territories. Shooting from the hip I would create a copy of this report template, apply a top level filter to show guy #1 and embed that report into his Salesforce account.

That would be functional, but I'd forever have to make changes to a lot of reports whenever we make a layout update, add a report, etc. Is there an easier to manage way?

Each record set has their email address and name (which matches Azure, O365 and Salesforce). Can this be dynamically matched to only show user1@domain.com records that contain user1@domain.com or Joe Bob only sees Joe Bob's records?

In case it matters, this data resides on a local Access DB that I'm syncing up to Power BI > Azure > Salesforce. I'm the only one doing any data publishing, manipulation, etc. The sales team is just accessing my output.

Thoughts?
