PBI doesn't recognize currency from Google Analytics ( DataFormat.Error )

Hi,

 

I have connected to Google Analytics directly through PBI desktop.

 

(leaving some information as xxx)

When currency numbers are above 10million, they are formated as xxxE7, which PBI doesnt recognize.

 

Query:

#"Added Items" = Cube.Transform(#"xxx", {{Cube.AddAndExpandDimensionColumn, "ga:yearMonth", {"ga:yearMonth"}, {"Month of Year"}}, {Cube.AddMeasureColumn, "Revenue", "ga:transactionRevenue"}}),

Error code:

DataFormat.Error: We received unexpected data for a column of type 'Currency'.

Details:
1.xxxE8

 

I have tried changing region settings (current is swe, changed to various regions)

Tried Currency.From("ga:transactionRevenue","en-US") for example, then I get the error message "Couldn't convert to number"

 

Can't get this to work. Would really appreciate help!

Refresh data from VPN-secured Salesforce

I have an issue when I try to refresh a published report from Salesforce objects.

 

Salesforce is white-listed so it can be accessed only from VPN.

 

It is ok when I try to refresh data from PowerBI desktop. It is obvious that I can't use Salesforce content pack to refresh data in app.powerbi.com. I installed Personal Gateway on the machine that is connected to the VPN.

 

I see this personal gateway in dataset settings. But Salesforce credentials after publishing report becomes invalid.

 

Your data source can't be refreshed because the credentials are invalid. Please update your credentials and try again.

 

When I press Edit Credentials it forwards me to Salesforce login page.

 

As a result, I have this error message.

 

Is there a way to enter/update secured Salesforce credentials?

Problem with Personal Gateway from June 1st

Hello everyone.

 

I have a Pro Account. Since today, my Personal Gateway doesn't connect to the service.

 

Some times it shows the message "Please wait while the gateway connects to the service" and other times "Unknown state error occured"

 

Tried to re install the Personal Gateway 2 times....still the problem.

 

Someone know what is the problem?

Personal Gateway suddenly stopped working

Hi,

 

My personall gateway have stopped working today.  I've tried to reinstall but nothing changed. When I want to run it shows message : "Register gateway failed.".

 

This below is from event viewer:

Personal Gateway suddenly stopped working

Hi,

 

My personal gateway has stopped working today. I've reinstalled gateway but I cannot sign in to it. I see error message:

Register gateway failed.

Data Warehouse/Connection FTP

Hello all

 

I have been unable to find any data-warehouse / connection services that accept FTP CSV files and also connect with Power BI Desktop or Online service.  Any ideas?  I essentially need a cloud db that accepts FTP CSV and can be connected with PowerBI.

How to move over SSRS reports done with SQL Server 2008 R2 into Power BI Reporting Services

Our company is in consumer electronics where we send SSRS reports VIA email to retailers we do business with.  With the new Power BI Premium and Reporting Services, I'm looking to understand the fastest way in which we can migrate all of these reports over into Power BI.

 

My two major questions are 1) can we run a script that will push all the reports into Power BI? and 2) Is there a way to have these pushed reports be pre-populating with similar views or do we need to rebuild each SSRS report in Power BI?

I've got an API which daily gives refreshed data to my PBI.

 

Is it possible to automatically append this daily api-data instead of refreshing it daily.

I want to set-up history. So you'll get: T+1+1+1+1....

As we have learned over the years, building a sexy dashboard with numbers and indicators is one thing. Another thing is to actually show what you are planning to do with the numbers.


Our executives needs to see what the operations are planning to do on the different KPI's. 

 

So my question is, are there a smart way where stakeholders can type in "actions" in text via online form/input field in some way (can be sharepoint, onedrive, excel file whatever), which then can load as a text on a Power Bi app (report/dashboard). 

This can also be used to input summaries

OLE DB or ODBC error DataSource.Error - Spark

Hi,

 

I get the following error when I try to import data using Spark data source in PowerBI desktop. The dataset has about 30 million rows and 70 columns. 

 

Failed to save modifications to the server. Error returned: 'OLE DB or ODBC error: [DataSource.Error] ERROR [08S01] [Microsoft][Hardy] (71) Failed to establish connection with unknown error..'.

 

Could someone please help me resolve this?

Error exporting data with underlying data

Every time I try to export underlying data for a report, I get an error: "Error exporting data". I've tried changing the visual (from stacked column to clustered) and even changed the aggregate format (count to count (distinct)). The only advice I've found in the community is to try changing the visuals.

 

I also tried downloading the Gateway tool and setting it up after checking my settings - the same sections that allow auto-refresh.

 

Does anyone have any further troubleshooting steps for me to try? If I need more in-depth support outside of the community, how do I contact that team?

Hi,

Single report with multiple datasources and gateway for some of them

Hi all!

 

I ran in to a problem with one of my customers reports. They have a database onprem which i reachable through gateway. So far so good. Then they added data from an Office 365 Sharepoint List and here the problem starts.

 

The report can no longer be scheduled to run cause the sharepoint datasource is not configured in gateway. But no gateway is needed. If I try to configure a datasource in the gateway for SharePoint I cannot choose a SharePoint connector due to auth-methods. 

 

Preferably I want to use gateway for onprem data and no gateway for Online sources, but cant find a solution for this.

Cannot log into Azure through on-premises data gateway

I just installed the on-premises data gateway, and as part of configuration, it wants me to connect to Azure; but when I try to log in, I keep getting a "We don't recognize this User ID or password" error.

 

I can log into Azure from IE or Firefox just fine, but attempts to log in through the gateway continue to fail. I've checked the log files to no avail.

 

Any thoughts?

oData Filter Question

Hello,

 

I'm trying to solve the following issue. I have 2 entities, Sales and SalesLines.  Due to the size of the SalesLines entity, I need to filter SalesLines to only the last 90 days of transactions (otherwise the Power BI service fails to refresh the entity data).  However the SalesLines entity does not have a date field, but is related to the Sales entity by TransactionNumber [Sales[TransactionNumber] -> SalesLine[TransactionNumber] )1 to Many).

 

I filter the Sales entity by transaction date like this (which works):

= OData.Feed("https://MyDataFeed.com/data/Sales?$filter=TransactionDate ge  2017-06-01"

 

But I can't seem to determine how then to dynanically filter the SalesLines to only the transactionnumbers in the sales entity.  The odata doesn't have an IN function.  Is there a way to accomplish this?

 

This is basically what I'm after but not certain if it's possible?

= OData.Feed("https://MyDataFeed.com/data/SalesLines?$filter=TransactionDate IN Sales[TransactionNumber]"

desktop file save in power bi

HI All,

 

Please help me . I created the data in excel file and saved to sharepoint online. I could pull the data to power bi and generate reports but now, when i want to save the file into one drive, it is not allowing me to. Not sure where i am going wrong?

 

when i see from the file folder it shows the file has been uploaded to folder in onedrive... but actually when i open the one drive i see no files there. 

 

Please help me with this
