trying to connect to Sharepoint 2010, but only one List shows up

Hi there,

 

I am using PowerBi-Desktop (Version Mai 2017) and Sharepoint Foundation 2010 OnPrem. On Sharepoint i have several Lists, which i want to examine with some PowerBI-Reports. But i do not manage to get all of the Lists of my Server. When trying to connect, i do always see only 1 of the availlable 40 Lists!

 

I am using the germany Version, so the action i am going to connect is the following:

 

"Daten abrufen" / "mehr" / "Sonstige" / "SharePoint-Liste"

 

In the Internet-Explorer the URL to see all Lists is:  http://sharepoint/_layouts/viewlsts.aspx?BaseType=0

So i use "http://sharepoint/" for URL in PowerBI.

 

The Navigator opens the Sharepoint-Database, but the tree just shows me 1 List! If i do the same with Access, then i see all my 40 Lists available. So what is wrong with PowerBI?

 

I would expect this to wether work or fail. But in my situation it only works partially. What can i do?

 

I have already checked permissions of the Sharepoint-Lists, but can not see any difference. Remeber, Access does see them all!

 

Any Help in this case is appreciated.

Connecting to two different Azure SQ databases

Hi,

I have two different datbases in Azure SQL server- Adventure Works and the new WWI sample databases on the same server.

I can connect to the database from Power BI desktop but only to one database at atime from a given PBIX file.

Steps:

1. Estbalish a DirectQuery connection to WWI database - this works.

2. Establish a DirectQuery connection to Advneture Works databse - the connection works but it gives me a message that it needs to switch to "Import Mode".

I understand this is a restriction in Power BI you can only connect to one databse in DirectQuery mode.

1] If I need to get data from mulitple databases using DirectQuery, what are my options?

2] Since I cannot mix DirectQuery and getting data from Excel, is there any other way to get data from other files when using DirectQuery mode?

Possuo dois servidores com bases Microsoft SQL Server hospedados na Amazon, e precisava fazer uns dashboards com vinculo entre estes bancos. Aguém sabe me dizer qual a maneira correta para conectar o PowerBI Desktop em uma base SQL Server que está hospedada em servidor na nuvem?

Hello everyone,
 
we're currently testing PowerBI for our company, in connection to MS Dynmics NAV 2016 deployed in Azure.
When setting up the service to get data from NAV, we're receiving an error, that makes me wondering if we missed any setup in NAV.
The error we receive is the following:
 
"We couldn't import data from Microsoft Dynamics NAV - Sales Report
 
There was an error when processing the data in the dataset.
Please try again later or contact support. If you contact support, please provide these details.

We have a self signed certificate. I heard this sometimes makes problems, but this error doesn't really seem to be related to the certificate.
I can access the OData Link through my webbrowser, and can pass the authentication with my username and password.
I can successfully set up a OData connection between Excel and NAV to receive a particular table.
 
Does anyone has an idea what my problem is?
Do I need to set up any more Web Services in NAV?

On-premises gateway - data source refresh Invalid connection credentials

I have installed On-premises gateway on server machine and mode of the gateway is On-premises data gateway
I have create 3 data sources in manage gateway screen in power bi online,all three data sources shows 'connection sucessful'
but the issue comes only 1 data sources other 2 datasource is wroking,
when I try to schedule a refresh on the deployed dataset it is returning the error below:
i have check power bi desktop report Credential and power bi online data sources Credential is same .what is the issues?

Connecting to a dataset in the PowerBI Service from within PowerBI Desktop fails.

Hi,

 

I have several datasets available in de Power BI Service and I would like to connect to them in Power BI Desktop. Reuse my datasets.

This is possible through the preview option: Power BI Service Live Connection. 

 

  1. I have enable the preview option in my Power BI desktop.
  2. I restarted Power BI Desktop
  3. I want to 'Get Data' via the 'Power BI Service' option, but the list of available dataset stays empty. Refresh doesn't work, and expanding my workspace neither.

What am I missing? My datasets connect (live) with an Analysis Services database.

 

Any input is appreciated.

premise data gateway

Hello, I've been trying to try the on-premise data gateway, and it appears I have to install PowerBIGatewayInstall.exe from here.

Yet it appears the download page is down. The download button doesn't work and the browser shows 404 error. Any help on this?

Added column in sharepoint list not imported after refresh

Hi 

 

I added 2 columns to my sharpoint list wich is part of Power Bi dataset ,After refresh my added columns aren't imported .

 

I can't find them in the field list in query edit either. Please help i've been looking for a solution for 2 days .

I have a requirment.I have a excel file data i integrated into sharepoint online list and integrated into Power BI and created a report.after that i created  a dashboard and published and again after next month i want upload the new data and all the same column names and automatoically report to be generated is it possible.could you give any examples.

direct query and data refresh

Hello together,

 

I have a problem with the direct query. Power BI Service shows that everything works fine and is connected. The problem is that the data don´t change, even if I klick on "Refresh now" in Power BI Service (the data come from a SQL server and two excel files as masterdata). When I open the pbix file in Desktop and klick on the button for updating, I get the data which is up to date. 

 

Shouldn´t it work with the gateway automatically and from Power BI Service to the SQL server? What is the reason why I don´t get the newest data in Power BI Service with direct query, but in Power BI Desktop with a manual refresh, even when Power BI shows that everything is fine with direct query?

Power BI Desktop - BI Connector does not show up in Get Data list

Dear all, 

 

I am trying to connect to an OBIEE instance via Power BI and I've seen that an easy and quick way to do that is bi installing BI Connector. I have successfully installed it, activated the trial license and managed to configure (and connect to) an OBIEE datasource. 

I have even managed to connect to OBIEE via Tableau + BI Connector.

However I experience the following issue: the BI Connector driver simply does not appear in the list of Data Sources (Get Data) in Power BI Desktop. I cannot find any info on this issue online. Any ideas will be very helpful.

Add photos to a Matric from Hard Disc

Hello,

I need to add photos of products in a Matrice, to have code product in a column and the picture of product in another column.
That works when the image is from Internet but it's not working when it's from my hard disc. I don't know how to make this work and if this possibilitie is existing in Power Bi or not ?

Gateway doesn't connect to Excel file

I have installed the on premises gateway and adding sql datasources works fine. When i want to connect to an Excel file (stored on a network share), i get an error: "Can't connect to mashup datasource". In the error details the following error is provided: "path must be a valid absolute path" However this does not seem to be the problem as the path is both valid as absolute. The excel file is stored on the same server as one of the sql datasources to which i am able to connect. What am i doing wrong?

Connection to SQL not working in PB services

Hi,

I'm able to connect to the SQL server from PB Desktop without problem, but once I have published it to the PB Service, I'm getting error status:400

I have been trying using personal gateway and data gateway - no success. 

Can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Hi,

I'm new on PowerBi (comming from Qlik Cloud) and configuring my environment for rich BI analysis. All my services are hosted on MS Azure Cloud (application, database, DNS and more), my application (Java + JSF) use embed feature to display BI analysis direct on my app.

Now, I'm looking to improve refresh rate of data on my report, everything is pointing to use PowerBI desktop to refresh my data, but it is not so flexible on my architeture.

 

There is any other way to achieve this?

Error connecting to Webtrends data source

I'm trying to connect to a report from Webtends. I've attempted trying to connect to all reports available as a data source, but get an error:

 

DataSource.Error: Web.Contents failed to get contents

 

Suggestions on how to connect to Webtrends to add reports as data source?

Good day

I have a problem when I export the PowerPoint files. In the project I use filters to differentiate between different dates. However, it does not export the date that I selected in the filter. Exports the last date of the report.

What I can do?

Is there any information on taking Excel data and combining it with Salesforce data. Specifically lookin to take a price file for products in excel format and calculate with usage data in Salesforce to produce a chart that shows dollars spent for product usage specific to machines.

Keep getting the following errors on three of the four datasets:

 

Data source error:Unable to refresh the model (id=2624126) because it references an unsupported data source.
