Hello!
I have a report connected to a spreadsheet in Sharepoint, as Web data source.
Everything is ok, but when I try to add a new data source to On-Premises Data Gateway, I get an error of "invalid connection credentials".
- I'm already using On-Premises Data Gateway with success for other data sources;
- The username/password are the same that I use to connect to Sharepoint
What I'm doing wrong? Any tips?

We have been having that issue for a long time now. We have setupa data gateway in power BI that links to our SQL server (no personal) and 50% of the time the gateway status is set to offline so scheduled refresh fail to execute.
This is the error message detail:

Thank you,Our SQL server is live and there is no problem to connect to it. Could someone please let me know why are those gateway are offline and what can be done to have them online at all times? Also is there any support provided by Microsoft regarding powerbi? The forum are the only place I could find to ask for help....

I'm looking for a way for Power BI to calculate percentages by comparing two #'s together. I'm also looking for a way these two #'s are the results of a distinct count. Example, column #1 has 6 occurrences of the word "Red"; column #2 has 2 occurrences of the word "Blue". I'd like the column #3 and #4 display the output ("6" and "2") and finally, column #5 and #6 display the percentage of occurrence that Red and Blue appear in the list. I need for the report to dynamically calculate as there will be a slicer in this report which will drive the content to filter on.

I have raw data that is dumped to a dropbox folder, which I have connected to the service with a personal gateway. Someone else in my company moved the data, when I was working on desktop. Something happened where my desktop data source setting reset to a previous source path, and somehow my gateway was also changed. I can pretty easily change the source in my desktop files, but can I edit the gateway? I only see the option to remove it (I've also always wondered if there is somewhere to see where my gateway points to after I have set it up). When I went to remove it. it said that my dashboards will also be removed. Is this the case? I have almost 300 dashboards that are created from reports in various desktop pbix files that all have the same raw data source. It will take me a week to re-pin them all and reset up the apps that hold them.

Is there any solution to ensure ALL the rows in salesforce appear in power BI? Currently the restriction is 2000 rows.
I understand from earlier responses and searches that this is a Salesforce API restriction and not Power BI, but if im not wrong, this issue does not exists in Tableau, so why with Power BI?
Also, is connecting to salesforce objects a work around?

i have the following situation that I'm trying to deal with:
Each month I get around 1.3 million rows of data. I'm splitting it into two MS Excel tabs in one worksheet (so e.g. July1 and July2).
In the next step I am combining those two tabs via PowerPiovt (Union All...). When I import one month into my PowerBI datamodel it works just fine. But somehow I can't import more than one MS Office Data Connection into the same PowerBI Datamodel. I can only REPLACE on month by another...
I know my approach is not the most efficient (downloading, spliiting, combining, uploading...) but so far it's the only one that worked haha.
Can you help me out here? Do I have to put every month into one PowerPivot Connection? Or can i import multiple into the same PowerBI Model with a query or something?

I am currently trying to refresh my dataset in Power BI Online with the "scheduled refresh" possibility.
Now the issue is the following: If I go under settings-> datasets->"dataset name" in the part datasource credentials the error message appears:
"Your data source can't be refreshed because the credentials are invalid. Please update your credentials and try again.""
The point is that I use the same credentials as in Power BI Desktop. There the connection to the Azure SQL DB works all fine. I also only included one single table to test the connection but it still does not work.

Another point: The same user for the same database works fine for scheduled refresh when my colleague uses it for his projects.
I really struggle now to find new ideas how i could solve this issue. Does someone have an idea how I could solve this issue or what might cause it?
Btw: I could find the following post here in the forum which seems to explain a similar issue. But to be honest, i can not see what i have to do with this solution.

Many customers with their own data sources and me, one developer with one account of Power BI.
Is it possible to create many On premise gateway (one for each customer data source) with my account? Is this recomendable?
If this way is possible, It would be necessary to install a Gateway in every customer server?
There are other possibilities in this scenario?
What is the best way?

I have created a tabular model of data using the Azure Analysis Services SAAS feature (B1 tier, ~5Gb in size).
I can connect to my model using PowerBI Desktop, and it works great... for about five minutes.
After a while I start to find that some of the visualisations stop refreshing (Showing the "Can't display the visual"/"No OLE Database Found" error message - but clicking the Refesh button sometimes fixes it, only for a different visualisation to then fail. If I have four visualisations in a report, it is almost impossible to get them to refresh at the same time (see picture).
After a bit longer, I usually get a message saying "Couldn't Load the Model Schema", and nothing works anymore. The only thing to do then is save the .pbix file, restart PBI Desktop and start again... but I only get a few minutes (if I'm lucky) before the whole thing starts again.
It feels like the Azure AS service is "timing out" after a period of time -but I can't find any documentation of this being a feature you can change.
I have tried different internet connections, and laptops, so I have ruled out a problem with network.
Has anyone experienced any similar problems?

I'm new to Power BI and I would like to get some help in what I'm required to do.
My task is to create a dashboard on a comapny SharePoint that will display Food and Beverage statistics. As the reports from the POS system are presented and saved in an Excel they are useful for creating visuals but I have encountered few problems so far. As the reports from POS are cluttered with information on a different levels I have to spend lots of time to tidy them and sometimes split them into smaller tables. Is there a way to deal with tables with data on different levels that can be used by Power BI? Bwlow there is an example of the report from POS.
My second question is regarding refreshing data. The POS system can generate and export files to the specific locations on local drive or to OneDrive but it will overwrite the file that it was used previously in the report. If the file with data used to create a report in Power BI is overwritten, but it contains the same set of tables but with different values, can it be used and read data from the file and update the values in the report?

It seems that there is no file called listener.ora in my Oracle client directory (D:\app\client\xxx\product\12.2.0\client_1\Network\Admin). Is that causing the error?
Yesterday, I got a different error doing the same thing, which was a Oracle ORA-12170 TNS connect timeout. No idea why I'm getting a different error today.

I have the latest version of Power BI installed on my desktop(2.47.4766.801 ) and I am trying to connect to an Azure SQL database.
I have entered all the login information correctly also from the azure management portal the firewall has been changed to accept my IP but still, i am getting an unauthorised user error. pls, see the attached screenshot. Any help will be appreciated.

Can Power BI connect to the data storage of Office 365 Froms?

I´m currently facing the following problem: I´m working on a dataset with approximately 15 mio. rows and +- 100 columns (Table in an ORACLE database). Importing the data in Power BI desktop takes time but works fine. Publishing it to the cloud also works, but as soon as I try refreshing the dataset, it fails after appr. 30 minutes with an error message that I found 0 hits for when I tried to google it. Since I´m using a german version, I´m not sure what the exact message looks like in english, but it states something like:
"The limit for uncompressed data received by the gateway was exceeded".
Can anyone help me with this?
It would be a huge disappointment if the gateway would indeed not be able to handle that amount of data...

I am trying to get data from a file which is stored in my sftp folder as a csv file. This file refreshes everyday.
I have the server ip and path.
I tried to get data from web by choosing sftp://<ip_address>/<file path>/<file_name>.csv, but it doesnt recognize the sftp.
How do I get data from my server?
